You want to go up in the world? On the Battert Rock in Baden-Baden, you will certainly be doing that!
The first Celtic settlers in Baden-Baden sought refuge from the Battert Rock. What today’s visitors seek, however, is the wonderful, undisturbed environment, which this nature reserve now offers. And although the Battert Rock lies within this protected sanctuary, walkers, hikers and climbers alike, who visit the area, certainly get their money’s worth: dense woodland, a jagged rock face, capped with a breathtaking panoramic view. And if the Oos valley just happens to be shrouded in a cloak of mist, you will be lucky enough to witness a fascinating natural spectacle. Do you fancy getting your head above the clouds? Then why not try it on the Battert Rock and gaze across the low-lying carpet of mist to the slopes of the Black Forest. Although on clear days, you won’t be able to witness this fascinating contrast, you will still be blessed with an absolutely fabulous view. Even climbers are most welcome to this craggy igneous outcrop, where tempting routes, for beginners and advanced climbers, are ready to put you to the test. Here you can practice almost all climbing techniques, on the numerous walls, cracks, roofs and chimneys that the rock face has to offer. If you are a climbing novice, but have the urge to experience the thrill of climbing, then why not reserve a place on a course? Regardless of whether you are new to the sport, or an avid climber, there is something for everybody, even for children.
