Information on the coronavirus disease

On this page we are trying to keep you up to date with the developments and situation in Baden-Baden. Due to the daily changing situation we ask for your understanding if we are not always able to do so. Additionally, we try to update the information on our website regarding opening times and events step by step.

The current situation in Baden-Baden

What Baden-Baden visitors should know:

Gastronomy

Since May 18, 2020 restaurants and cafés including ice cream parlors are allowed to reopen provided they comply with the hygiene regulations and distance rules.

Most of them still offer additionally food and beverages for delivery or take away. 

Since June 2, 2020 smaller bars and pubs are allowed to reopen again provided they comply with the hygiene regulations and distance rules. 

 

Culture

Museums and exhibitions as well as galleries are allowed to reopen.

Finally, we can go shopping again. All shops are allowed to reopen under consideration of the hygiene regulations and distance rules.

No entry without face mask! Please keep the minimum distance of 1.5 m from other people in public spaces.

The public toilet at the Augustaplatz as well as the bathroom inside the Kurhaus are open.

 

Accommodations

Since May 29, 2020 hotels and other accommodation facilities like holiday apartments are allowed to offer overnight stays for touristic reasons. Please contact the respective facility directly for detailed information. 

Our camper van site at the B500 is allowed to reopen and receive guests as well. Please note that there are only 8 spaces available on our camper van site and that you can not book in advance. First come - first serve!

 

Parcs and gardens

Parcs and public gardens in Baden-Baden can be visited at any time.

Enjoy a stroll through the Lichtentaler Allee or visit the beautiful Gönneranlage

Since May 28, 2020 the Rose Society Garden is open for visitors again. 

Please note that there will be a competition on June 16, 2020 (the election of the most beautiful rose) and that the garden will not be accessible for visitors on that day. Thank you for your understanding.

The current Corona ordinance of the state government Baden-Württemberg allows the carrying out of public events as long as there are fixed seats and less than 100 participants.

All shops are allowed to reopen under consideration of the hygiene regulations and distance rules. Please keep the minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other people. Thank you.

The youth hostel remains closed until further notice.

  • Events and other gatherings with more than 500 participants are prohibited until August 31, 2020.
  • Non-private events are allowed as long as there are fixed seats and less than 100 participants. [...] Cinemas and other cultural institutions are allowed to reopen provided they comply with the rules mentioned before. Please note that the cinemas in Baden-Baden remain closed until further notice.
  • From June 9, 2020 private events with less than 100 participants are allowed to take place in rentable public rooms like restaurants and other venues. This includes events like birthday parties, weddings or baptisms.

Please contact the respective organizer directly for further information on your event. For the return or exchange of already booked tickets, please contact the organizer or the sales point you went to. 

The Festival Hall Baden-Baden cancelled the whole program of season 2019/2020. Neither the Whitsun Festival 2020 nor the Summer Festival 2020 at the Festival Hall will take place. For further information please click here.

The public guided tours organized by the Baden-Baden Tourism Board (Baden-Baden Kur & Tourismus GmbH) will take place from July 3, 2020.

  • The public guided tours in English take place every Friday at 2 pm.
  • The public guided tours in Spanish take place every Friday at 4 pm.

The guided walks only take place if there is a minimum of 2 people. For safety reasons there is a maximum of 8 participants. Thank you for your understanding.

Yes, the Casino Baden-Baden is open for visitors.

Slot machine game:

  • Sunday - Thursday: 12 pm - 2 am
  • Friday - Saturday: 12 pm - 3 am

Classic game:

  • Sunday - Thursday: 5 pm - 1 am
  • Friday - Saturday: 5 pm - 2 am

Guided tours

From June 15, 2020 the Casino Baden-Baden will offer guided tours through the historic rooms considering the legal hygiene regulations.
The tours take place every hour from 10 am to 2 pm. The number of participants is limited to max. 9 people. Please note that the tours are in German only.

There are no exclusive tours until further notice. Thank your for your understanding.

The Caracalla Spa reopens from June 6, 2020 - this includes its restaurant and shop as well as the CaraVitalis Wellness & Beauty center. 

The Roman-Irish Bath Friedrichsbad remains closed until further notice. 

Our Tourist Information office in the Kurhaus Colonnades is open - daily from 11 am to 5 pm.

The safety of our employees and our guests has top priority, so please take care and follow the following rules:

  1. Guests are required to wear a face mask.
  2. The minimum distance of 1.5 meters must be kept from other persons.
  3. Disinfection of the hands in the entrance area: Disinfection dispensers are available.
  4. Maximal 2 guests allowed.

The Tourist Information office in the Schwarzwaldstraße 52 is open from Monday to Friday from 9 to 10 am. Afterwards, you can reach us everyday from 9 am to 5 pm by phone and e-mail:

  • Avoid crowds in public spaces.
  • Cough and sneeze in a tissue or in the crook of your arm.
  • Keep your distance - even when standing in line. 
  • No handshakes.
  • Only go see a doctor or emergency ward after making an appointment by phone. 
  • Stay at home with fever and cough and other cold symptoms.
  • Use a face mask in public transports and stores.
  • Wash your hands long and thoroughly.
  • The stay in public space is only permitted on your own or with the members of your own household or with the members of another household until June 14, 2020. Wherever possible, a minimum distance of 1.5 meters must be kept from other persons in public spaces.
  • Gatherings in private rooms are allowed with a total amount of max. 10 people from several households excluding family (parents and grandparents, children and grandchildren, siblings and their descendants) as well as members of the own household and their partners. 
  • Public events and gatherings are allowed as long as there are fixed seats and less than 100 participants.
