The World Heritage in Baden-Baden is spread throughout the entire inner city. This includes a core zone with the historic spa quarter & five urban quarters. The surrounding spa landscape also makes an important contribution to the World Heritage in Baden-Baden. These seven areas are highlighted on the map with different colours – and all of them form the stage for this year's World Heritage Day celebrations.

Programme Old Town with Spa Quarter

Friedrichsbad_33_FB

The historic spa quarter in the old town of Baden-Baden is where the thermal springs originate. The Romans already bathed here. The ancient Roman ruins still bear witness to this. Over the centuries, the town developed around the springs. The thermal springs were catalysts for the specific spatial urban development of the town. In the 19th century, the old town was revitalised by the construction of the Friedrichsbad.
