Yes - the World Heritage Site in Baden-Baden is a wonderful experience even when it rains ☂.

Many of the guided tours, theatres and programmes take place indoors. And if you are in risk of getting wet, we recommend a quick visit to our Tourist Information, where you can buy really nice umbrellas ;-).

Throughout the city centre ❤ !

Seven city quarters and their surrounding landscape are part of the World Heritage Site in Baden-Baden. They are all the stage for the World Heritage Day. In the core and buffer zone, the special features that make up Baden-Baden's contribution to the World Heritage Site of the Important Spa Towns of Europe are still very much in evidence in many places today.

  • Old town with spa quarter with the Roman bath ruins, market square, Friedrichsbad, the old steam bath and the collegiate church.
  • New spa quarter with spa house and spa garden, casino, Trinkhalle & theatre, the Museum Frieder Burda, Kulturhaus LA8, and the State Art Gallery.
  • Gardens, parks and green spaces in Lichtentaler Allee, the Stourdza Chapel on Michaelsberg and the City Museum.
  • Suburbs with Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, the city library and the Festspielhaus.
  • Villa areas with Paradise and Palais Biron.
  • Medieval monastery with Lichtenthal Abbey.
  • Buffer zone with spa landscape

Yes, the World Heritage Festival is free of charge. There are a few activities for which an entrance fee/participation fee is charged. There is a note on the prices in the programme overview.

For the World Heritage Day, we expect many guests in Baden-Baden. Here are a few tips for a relaxed journey.

Travel by public transport

Get from A to B easily, comfortably and environmentally consciously: The Baden-Baden public transport company ensures this every day and also at night with a dense network of routes and frequencies. The operating branch of Stadtwerke Baden-Baden provides a total of 47 buses for this purpose - and as one of the first public transport companies in Baden-Württemberg, it also provides two hybrid buses.

By car to Baden-Baden

For a comfortable journey by car, it is best to use our P&R car parks at the Cineplex cinema or the P&R car park Bahnhof Süd. You will find further parking facilities in our parking garages.

The organisers of the World Heritage Day in Baden-Baden are the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing of Baden-Württemberg, the Municipality of Baden-Baden and Baden-Baden Kur & Tourismus GmbH.

The Great Spa Towns of Europe are a group of eleven major European spa towns in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.

As a European initiative, they were jointly nominated for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
