Rose Society Garden Baden-Baden
You love nature, vibrant colors, and that one special moment when summer smells like roses? Then the Rose Novelty Garden on the Beutig hill is just the place for you. With over 1,000 varieties of roses—including the latest breeds of the year—this is one of the most beautiful rose gardens in Europe.
The garden has been honored with the “Award of Garden Excellence” by the World Federation of Rose Societies and attracts rose enthusiasts, breeders, and lovers from all over the world each year.
"Golden Rose of Baden-Baden" 2026
With the internationally significant honorary award "Golden Rose of Baden-Baden", a floribunda rose was awarded on June 16, 2026, in Baden-Baden. It bears the name ‘Candy Cloud‘ and comes from the young breeder Jannik Dräger of the company Dräger Rosen from Bad Nauheim-Steinfurth.
The rose is thus the best rose of the year in the only international rose novelty competition in Germany. The new creation convinced the jury with its abundance of unfilled, pink-rose-colored flowers with orange stamens. It has very good leaf health and a light fragrance. ‘Candy Cloud‘ also received a gold medal in the category of floribunda roses.
For the 74th Rose Novelty Competition in Baden-Baden, more than 90 rose experts and breeders from 18 different countries gathered in the rose novelty garden on June 16 to evaluate 153 rose novelties from 39 different breeders.
As the most important guest of honor on the competition day, Sushil Prakash from India, the president of the World Federation of Rose Societies, was present. Matjaž Mastnak, director of the Arboretum Volčji Potok from Slovenia, chaired the international jury. Rose experts from all over Europe, as well as from Uruguay, India, Canada, and the USA, had come to the competition.
A place of distinction – with many stories to tell
This garden ranks among the best in Europe and has been honored with the Award of Garden Excellence by the World Federation of Rose Societies. And it’s no surprise—beyond the lush abundance of blossoms, visitors can also enjoy fascinating insights into the world of rose breeding, from traditional rose christenings to festive award ceremonies.
