kunst findet stadt
Culture and nature belong together in Baden-Baden. Look forward to an art experience for the senses in a beautiful summer ambience of the Kurgarten Baden-Baden. Look forward to artworks by the internationally successful, Berlin-based Dane Jeppe Hein.
In addition to the well-known venues along the Lichtentaler Allee - Museum Frieder Burda and Staatliche Kunsthalle, Studio 45 cbm and Museum LA8, a new place for art has been announced: the Kurgarten, directly in front of the Kurhaus. In future, art in public space will find a stage here. An invitation to the citizens and guests of the city to experience this beloved place in a new way. Free of charge.
With the motto "kunst findet stadt" (art meets the city), each year an artist will have the opportunity to showcase an artistic work in the open air. An advisory board of renowned art experts will make the selection. The event is organised by Baden-Baden Events GmbH.
What will be shown?
A new art experience for Baden-Baden! Discover what art can be in the open-air. Experience new forms, new expressions, new thoughts - and experience the Kurgarten in a completely different way. Exchange ideas! Art brings people together; to think and to experience.
The Advisory Board
The Mayor of Baden-Baden Margret Mergen and the Managing Director of Baden-Baden Events GmbH Nora Waggershauser have a three-member artistic advisory board by their side: Prof. Dr. Florian Matzner, Professor of Art History from Munich and an expert on public arts, Dr. Thomas Köhler, Director of the Berlinische Galerie - Museum of Modern Art and Henning Schaper, Director of the Museum Frieder Burda.
Together they made the decision: After assessing the individual spatial situation and the unique flair of the city of Baden-Baden, the choice fell on the artist Jeppe Hein. He is known throughout the world for his public art projects. His art forces and initiates interaction with people. Thus, the first artistic intervention within the framework of "kunst findet stadt" is to be experienced three-dimensionally by the guests, appealing to all senses and encouraging them to participate.
